I actually woke up at a quarter after 1am this time, but I've been up since then, visiting friends' blogs and sending out "Happy Thanksgiving" wishes through MySpace and email... I haven't blogged the last few days, since they've been pretty much uneventful... I worked from noon to just after 6pm, Monday through Wednesday...standing basically in the same spot for those six straight hours...being the friendly "X-pert" at the front of the store as you walk in... I'm glad for a day off to relax some...
Wednesday morning, before working my shift...I: did four loads of laundry (including washing the sheets to my bed)...made dough for seven pie crusts (to help Mom out with the pie-baking she'd be doing later in the day)...and vacuumed the entire first floor of my parents' house (excluding their bedroom/bathroom) To say the least, the morning was full before even leaving for work...
Wednesday evening entailed even more... After finishing dinner, I helped Mom with some more baking/cooking... I worked on baking the biscuits, while she whipped up some cornbread...both of which will be the staples for the beginnings of her homemade dressing... Then, Mom made the dough for the rolls...while I started filling some of the pie crusts she'd baked from the dough I made that morning... I put together the "innards" for the "Old Time Favorite"...(my brother's favorite, too...with cherries and Philadelphia cream cheese among other ingredients)...and for one of the two chocolate pies... And, here and there while baking, I cleaned up the kitchen... Whew! Talk about being ready for bed when we were finally all finished!
I think I finally managed to sink into bed...(after a nice, hot shower)...around a quarter till 10pm or so...and I went right to sleep...(thanks in part to the fact that we have the window to our room open, so all that nice, cool air made the room wonderfully chilly...)
Speaking of which...
Bring on the cold!
I'm so glad the weather's turning cooler... Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face... And, it'll actually "feel" more like Thanksgiving then, too...
Alrighty, well, I guess I'd better try and see if I can get back to sleep... Tomorrow...(well, "today" technically)...is going to be a long day, and I need to prepare for it - prepare for a day of doing nothing and eating everything... Sounds like my kind of "day"...
