I woke up around 3:30am on the Friday after Thanksgiving...once again due to being "tag-teamed" by the baby and my husband moving and bumping around in their sleep... But, that was actually alright this time, as I had to be up a half hour later anyway to get ready for work... Yep, I reported to work at about 10 till 6am, so that I was there to help open the store on "Black Friday"... And, I couldn't believe the line outside the store! Within 45 minutes, most of the big sale items were gone...woosh! It was truly amazing...
By the time 2pm rolled around, I was already pretty exhausted... But, there wasn't any time to rest... I rushed home, packed a small bag, and we were all off to downtown to start our Christmas season... We went to eat at the Rainforest Cafe...(which my nephew, Caleb, absolutely loved!)...for dinner... Then, walked through the Rivercenter Mall on the way back to our hotel... Mom had reserved a room for us at the Marriott Riverwalk, so we could watch the river parade from our balcony! Way cool... We all bundled up and then covered up with blankets, too, as we prepared for the first sign the parade was starting - the lighting of all the trees along the Riverwalk... When the floats started coming down the river, the parade was right below us, so we got to see everything...and listen to all the music...and see all the lights... Such a neat time! After such a long day, we all went to bed right after the parade...and slept pretty soundly...
Saturday morning, after getting up, packing up our things, and checking out of the hotel...we drove back toward home and had a huge breakfast at Denny's on the way... YUM! And, once we arrived at home, the real "work" began... It was time to break out all the Christmas decorations! Scott and Jeff, my brother, went to work getting all the pieces for my mom's 12ft Christmas tree out of the garage and brought into the house... Then, while Mom and Jeff worked on putting the tree up, Scott and I started unloading boxes of decorations and ornaments from the attic... My nephew, Caleb, meanwhile, was "helping" by wearing some of the decorations - "Look, it's a hat!" (as he manages to put the wreath on top of his head)..."This is my boot!" (as he sticks his right foot into one of the stockings that usually hangs from the mantle) By the end of the day, there were opened boxes...and decorations...and random ornaments...everywhere... But, at least the main portion of the "big" stuff has been taken care of... The next few days will be filled with decorating...and draping...and sparkling lights...and red and green and silver...and the sound of Christmas carols filling the air, as we work to finish my mom's "Christmas house"... I love it! And, can't wait!
